Best Tennis Shoes | 2020 Guide & Reviews

When it comes to the best tennis shoes, I have to admit, this was one of our more enjoyable reviews. Analyzing  loads of shoes, then going out to run around and play tennis – I was living the dream. Before I go on, I have to tell you that I have wide feet. My initial concern wasn’t necessarily looking for which tennis shoes were the best according to amazon, but more so which were the best for wide feet and wouldn’t leave my feet in absolute agony at the end of the day. The other thing  important for me was durability. We live in such a disposable culture, where people are willing to throw things out quickly just to re replace them. On the same note, it is also important to make sure you have good quality and durable tennis socks to go with your tennis shoes. These will definitely help make your shoes go that little bit further.

Whilst I’m no saint, I do have a budget. And so whatever I was going to buy, it had to last for months if not longer. After investigating over 30 pairs, I managed to finally nail down our favorite 7 below. I didn’t just analyse which shoes were great for tennis (even though it started like that) – I actually started to test how comfortable each pair was, which pair was built for walking, which for basketball, I mean I got so geeked out that at this point you can even ask me how much the tennis shoes weigh and I’ll know…

So before I tell you what you need to look for when picking the perfect pair, I wanted to remind you of some of the big brands in this field who typically come out with amazing, reliable and stylish products:

Of course this would be the first name on the list! Being the global superpower of sportswear it seems natural that the likes of Federer, Nadal, and Williams would all choose this particular brand of shoe to play with. Not only would your shoe be equipped with the best technological advancements known to tennis footwear, you would also be the most fashionable player on the court. With Nike tennis products, be it shoes, rackets or bags you simply can’t go wrong.

Adidas, a German company that  lives up to its stellar reputation. To put it succinctly, they produce efficient, comfortable and durable tennis shoes. You are pretty much guaranteed success with this brand of sneaker and they definitely will not let you down.

Though less well known than their Nike and Adidas counterparts, the quality of Asics shoes can not be ignored. Being represented by the likes of Novak Djokovic it is easy to understand why! Offering a quality alternative, it is clear why they remain the choice of sneaker for tennis fans across the world.

I came up with the following list when deciding which tennis shoes were the best for me:

1) Did they fit well?

2) Were they comfortable?

3) Could I use them for walking and for other sports?

4) Did they last long?

5) How easily could they be cleaned and laundered?

And with that criteria to hand, I decided to proceed with the below review…

Tennis Shoe Reviews

Adidas Men’s Advantage Tennis Shoe

This is more casual, clean, stripped down, style of sneaker is definitely a very popular choice amongst the more relaxed tennis player, and rightly so!

With a cloud foam insole, the shoe is not only incredibly comfortable but also provides great cushioning on strong impact with the ground. The rubber outsole increases the durability of the sneaker and leather upper enables the shoe to better mould to your foot shape for a more cozy feel. With a more “snug” fit, we would definitely recommend buying around half-a-size up.

Perhaps the best part about this shoe is that it would not go amiss on a casual trip out to the shops. Complimenting both chinos and jeans, you could definitely double up on these as part of a relaxed look and get even more for your hard earned dollars!

With a leather outside, this shoe is very easy to clean ensuring you look as stylish as ever both on the court or elsewhere.

Adidas Men’s Courtjam Bounce Tennis Shoe

A serious looking tennis shoe for a serious tennis player! This very  light-weight tennis shoe will have you gliding across the court with ease.

This sneaker additionally comes equipped with an upper mesh to allow your feet to breathe during hard-fought matches, enabling you to simply concentrate on enjoying your game. The bounce cushioning allows for comfort whilst also maintaining flexibility ensuring you are always on the balls of your feet.

The external special Adiware outsole means that the shoe has a toughness to it helping it last longer, and special abrasive-resistant Adituff material is used on the toe area to offer further protection to the user.

These shoes also grip the court very well and as such provide great balance and stability when in use.

All in all, a quality shoe for a quality price!

ASICS Men’s Gel-Dedicate 6 Tennis Shoes

A great shoe for beginner and intermediate tennis players alike and one of the most comfortable tennis shoes produced by ASICS.

The synthetic, textile and breathable mesh upper materials ensure prime comfort when out on the court. Inside the shoes there is a padded tongue and collar along with a very snug fabric lining. The foam bed expertly moulds to your feet providing an almost cosy feeling.

The expert Forefoot Gel® Cushioning System really helps absorb the shock of impact on harder surfaces and helps for easy movement transitions during play. The renin Trusstic System® used in the middle part of the sole helps with stability during play by preventing necessary twisting of the shoe during play whilst lowering the total weight of the shoe. If you are looking for a shoe that provides great lateral support then this is the tennis shoe for you.

The ASICS Men’s Gel-Dedicate 6 Tennis Shoes is ultimately for someone looking for reliability, safety and comfort.

ASICS Men’s Gel-Game 7 Tennis Shoes

The ASICS Mens’s Gel Game 7 is another reliable product from ASICS.

This particular brand has a wider heel cage, allowing for more stability on the back foot when running on the court making sure you’re on your A game. The upper mesh again allows for breathability and a lighter shoe allowing you to play with comfort and flexibility.

The expert Forefoot Gel® Cushioning System, like the ASICS Men’s Gel-Dedicate 6 Tennis Shoe, greatly helps absorb the shock of impact on harder surfaces and helps for easy movement transitions during play. The Eva midsole helps provide additional cushioning and foot protection.

An interesting quirk is the removable Orthalite sockliner which can be replaced with a medical orthotic should the need arise.

A reliable, sleek, stylish tennis sneaker the Asics Men’s Gel-Game 7 is a shoe you can not go wrong with.

Nike Men’s Court Lite 2 Tennis Shoe

A specially crafted synthetic sole also encourages increased support of the foot for comfort and safety.

There is also an upper mesh layer to allow your feet to breathe whilst the Phylon midsole, covering the whole shoe, cushions your feet as you gallop across the court.

A great pair of court tennis sneakers for the price. With Nike you know what your getting, guaranteed results.

New Balance Men’s 1006 V1 Tennis Shoe

The New Balance Men’s 1006 V1 Tennis shoe is an all-round sturdy and reliable shoe with the option to buy normal, wide and X-wide shoes for those who have wider feet than the average Joe. A neat option for those who like to enjoy a game of tennis without leaving your feet black and blue!

Made of 3 parts of synthetic material to 1 part mesh, the outer surface of the shoe allows breathability which is custom for a good tennis shoe. The non-marking Ndurance rubber  outsole is durable making the shoe tougher than initially expected and the long-wear drag tip provides additional robustness.

A REVlite lightweight foam midsole means that your feet have more than ample cushioning to protect against injury and allow for comfort while you develop and practise your game.

A quality, reliable sneaker with the additional benefit of coming in multiple sizes for width. Definitely a must-have for those of us with wide feet.

K-SWISS Men’s Bigshot Light Tennis Shoe

A surprisingly lightweight and very good looking shoe!

The K-SWISS Men’s Bigshot Light Tennis Shoe represents a rather discrete brand of tennis shoe which is somewhat less well-known than its counterparts. The shoe itself is made of sturdy synthetic, leather and textile and has excellent traction. There is also strong toe protection along with great ankle support  for those of us who require it. These shoes are also one to try out for those of us with high or wide feet potentially favouring this kind of foot shape.

A decent shoe offering an alternative for those who are looking for something a little outside the box
